Picosecond Lasers are replacing ND-YAG Q Switched Laser's for pigmentation removal due to more efficient removal and quicker recovery times. This is due to the shorter pulse duration causing a more photoacoustic effect which shatters pigment's into smaller pieces. However some pigments still respond really well to the ND-YAG Q-Switched Laser's, this is why some professionals still use both technologies to remove differing types of pigmentation. The most important factor in deciding which technology is best for you is best decided with a experienced laser technician.

Pico Laser Pro is a picosecond laser with 3 wavelength technology 532nm, 785nm and 1064nm. Capable of removing the most stubborn tattoos and pigments due to its ultra short pulses which create a photoacoustic impact to shatter pigments into much smaller fragments than any other tattoo removal machine on the market. Picosecond, Picosure and PicoWay are the most trusted lasers in aesthetics and are replacing the well known ND-YAG Q-switched. This is due to Picosecond lasers having a shorter pulse duration and the extra wavelength enabling a more efficient and safer pigment removal. Scientists recognise that the shorter pulse duration provides a more efficient removal.

It is also common to experience some redness, local swelling and mild tenderness. These symptoms may appear immediately or a few days after treatment. The use of Aloe Vera gel (100%) is recommended directly after treatment and for a further few days if necessary. An ice cold compress can be applied if the area feels hot or uncomfortable. A high SPF 30+ should be applied when outside for 4 weeks after. Excessive exposure can cause hypo or hyper pigmentation of the skin. For the next 48 hours minimum (after all treatments): Avoid all heat treatments such as steam rooms, saunas, hot baths, hot showers and excessive exercise. Avoid all perfumed creams, soaps and lotions on the treatment area (Until scabs have healed) Only use Aloe Vera gel. Do not touch pick or scratch the area else scarring may appear.

It is important that before receiving the body perfection IPL Laser treatments you follow the recommended pre-treatment guidelines 30 days prior to the treatment. Do not wax or thread hair from the treatment area. Please shave the treatment are on the day or before (A cost of shaving will be applied if this is not done) Please remove all make-up before the treatment. Do not use sunbeds for up to 30 days before or after the treatment Do not sun bathe for 30 days before or after treatment Do not use tanning cream.

How many sessions you need all depends on the colour pigment in your tattoo

A patch test is conducted to make sure you have no reactions, we complete a through consultation and discuss medical conditions. We may ask for a doctors note before we go ahead with treatment.

The type of lasers we use nowadays are much more sophisticated targeting and breaking up the ink pigment. We have removed hundreds of tattoos successfully without scarring, however we cannot guarantee no scarring. There may be a slight lightening or darkening of the skin pigment. To reduce the risk, we assess each individual at consultation prior to treatment. We will conduct a patch test and ask you to come back two weeks later for a second consultation. If you have healed well we will go ahead with treatment. If we feel the patch test has not healed correctly, we may refuse treatment or repatch you again. Laser tattoo removal creates a superficial burn wound. This forces the skin to create new skin cells. There is an immediate whitening effect after this procedure and this can last for several minutes after the procedure. Tattoo removal may blister and usually develops within a few hours after your treatment. The blisters generally last a week or two, and you might also notice some crusting and scabbing on the treated area. Always make sure to follow our aftercare instructions. Taking good care of your skin after getting a tattoo being removed may not only help prevent the formation of blisters, but also help your skin heal faster.

The amount of pain depends on the type of tattoo, we can use an ice pack to cool the area before treatment. Some describe as uncomfortable, some describe as a flick of an band.

Firstly you will be asked to complete a consultation form and we require a patch test before any treatment can go ahead. We check medical conditions and medication, we may ask for a doctors note before we go ahead with treatment. • As the ND YAGQ switched hits the tattoo it will make a loud crackling noise when the tattoo ink absorbs the photo shock wave. This is completely normal and will lesson as the tattoo fades over the course of treatments • White gas bubbles may rise to the skin immediately, this is a good sign that heat has been released from the shattered ink particles. This disappears within about 20 minutes. • Pinpoint bleeding may occur and this is due to the tiny bloody vessels within the skin erupting. This will stop after 20 minutes. • Skin redness may be present and temporary swelling due to the heat and intensity of the treatment. All of these side effects are normal and should clear up with a few hours

ND YAG Q switched remains the desired technology for tattoo removal as the power produced creates the mechanical effect to shatter and remove the particles and less risk of scarring.

We can remove all kinds of coloured tattoos, however more treatments will be needed to remove colour tattoos

ND YAG stands for neodymium doped yttrium aluminium garnet, which is a crystal that is used as a medium for laser treatments. In Q-switched mode , ND YAG produces two wave lengths which is useful for superficial skin lesions. Q switch refers to the technique of making the laser produce a high beam in very short pulses. Machines that are not Q switch cannot provide the desired result as they are not powerful enough to shatter the tattoo.
